2009 Horizon Report

The annual Horizon Report describes the continuing work of the New Media Consortium (NMC)'s Horizon Project, a long-running qualitative research project that seeks to identify and describe emerging technologies likely to have a large impact on teaching, learning, research, or creative expression within learning-focused organizations. The 2009 Horizon Report is the sixth annual report in the series. The report is produced again in 2009 as a collaboration between the New Media Consortium and the EDUCAUSE Learning Initiative (ELI), an EDUCAUSE program.

2006_Horizon_Report.pdf (application/pdf Object)

The 2006 Horizon Report, just as has been the case with previous editions of the report, highlights six technologies that the underlying research suggests will become very important to higher education over the next one to five years.

A central focus of the discussion of each technology is its relevance for teaching, learning, and creative expression. Live weblinks to example applications are provided in each section, as well as to additional readings.

H2O Playlist: Home

An H2O playlist is a shared list of readings and other content about a topic of intellectual interest. it is a simple yet powerful way to group and exchange useful links to information -- online and offline.

I saw a presentation at Educause about this and talked to these guys. It is an open source project in java/tomcat. Really very similar to TagIt, but it is presented in the context playlists. Also, cool idea of 'influence' rather than subjective ratings like in TagIt...
