The mission of World Wide Wounds is to be the premier online resource for peer-reviewed information on dressing materials providing practical guidance on all aspects of wound management to health professionals worldwide.
As an independent online journal, World Wide Wounds is dedicated to promoting excellent practice and better communication across the speciality. The information provided will vary in complexity and depth. Basic articles will be provided to meet the needs of inexperienced nurses or those in training. More detailed articles will be provided for those with experience in wound care, whilst articles at the cutting edge of scientific research will attract leaders of the field. The focus of the majority of articles will remain clinically based and be of direct practical relevance to those who manage wounds on a daily basis.
World Wide Wounds seeks to monitor and raise the standard of reference material available to all professionals with an interest in wound management, working with individuals, organisations and industry to meet these aims.
World Wide Wounds recognises the strengths of existing journals in the field, but also the inherent limitations of the paper-bound medium. The on-line journal will be published on a continuous basis; both the selection of material and the content of individual articles will be constantly updated to reflect current practice and scientific research. Authors will be given the opportunity to correct errors, or add material, if appropriate. All such changes will be clearly signposted and acknowledged as necessary.
World Wide Wounds can respond rapidly to new developments and will provide a forum for current information on new products, emerging technologies and research breakthroughs as evaluations are published. World Wide Wounds seeks to stimulate debate and discussion and readers are positively encouraged to challenge and respond to published articles.

The online Journal of Rural Nursing and Health Care has been developed and operated through support of The University of Alabama, Capstone College of Nursing, where the website and webmaster reside. All have given generously of their time and talents to make the journal an ongoing reality. In addition, the managing editor, Dr. Steve Mac Call has brought to bear his tremendous knowledge and talents in Information management to create and maintain our digital library and the electronic referencing feature of each article in the Journal. We would not have been able to do it with out all the support for both the Online Journal and the Rural Nurse Organization. We are always open to input on the presentation style and content of the Journal. Please contact me with suggestions or interest in either RNO or the Online Journal.

OJIN: The Online Journal of Issues in Nursing is a peer-reviewed publication that provides a forum for discussion of the issues inherent in current topics of interest to nurses and other health care professionals. The intent of this journal is to present different views on issues that affect nursing research, education, and practice, thus enabling readers to understand the full complexity of a topic. The interactive format of the journal encourages a dynamic dialogue resulting in a comprehensive discussion of the topic, thereby building up the body of nursing knowledge and suggesting policy implications that enhance the health of the public. The journal is indexed by Medline, CINAHL and Scopus.
Readership
OJIN averages 126,000 user sessions (visits) per month, 10,000 page views per day, and 295,000 page views per month.
OJIN's international readership includes nurses employed by thousands of healthcare organizations throughout the world, researchers, and educators and students in a variety of educational programs.
Results of two surveys indicate that 73% of the journal's audience is comprised of nurses employed by in-patient hospital settings, and 68% of the audience is staff nurses. Approximately 44% of OJIN's readers are 41-50 years of age.
Journal Content
Each issue begins with a collection of initial, invited, peer-reviewed articles written by national and international experts in a particular topical area. An advantage of electronic journals over print journals is that unsolicited, voluntary articles can be added over time to the topic, thus updating the topic and increasing our understanding of the topic. All articles, invited and unsolicited, undergo a blind peer-review by at least three of our national and international OJIN Editorial Review Board members who recommend acceptance, resubmission, or rejection of the manuscript. For more information about OJIN articles and publication policies, check out the the Frequently Asked Questions.
Ownership of OJIN
