"Welcome to AcqWeb, sister publication of ACQNET and the gathering place for librarians and other professionals interested in acquisitions and collection development. For those unfamiliar with our terminology, we are the staff who select and purchase the books, serials and related information resources for our libraries."

Not much content yet, but a really nice looking design.

New Title Reports

YBP compiles reports each fiscal year showing data for all books we treated on our approval plan program. Our reports, which are widely used by academic librarians in their budgeting and planning, show new title output and price data broken down by subject and by publisher, with overall totals.

"The DLF Electronic Resource Management Initiative (ERMI) Phase 2 Steering Group has been investigating interoperability between integrated library system acquisition modules and electronic resource management systems for the last 18 months. The subcommittee is now pleased to make available the final report of this investigation, available from . The release will also be announced this week at the 2008 ALA Midwinter Meeting in Philadelphia."

"Each fall YBP publishes a report on price and output for new books published during our prior fiscal year. The data encompasses all new titles treated on the Approval Plan programs of YBP and of Lindsay & Croft, YBP's division in the United Kingdom, two offices which regularly profile, with book-in-hand, well over 65,000 distinct new titles annually. Since our Approval Plan programs are expressly designed to serve academic libraries, our data, which we have reported in a consistent way for over a dozen years, is a useful index to English-language publishing trends for scholarly, professional, and scientific books."

"The ALCTS Acquisition Section's Publications Committee is pleased to announce that its Foreign Book Dealers' Directory is now available as a single, searchable Web publication. Most recently available as three distinct Web sites, the information has been combined into a single file, with access points by vendor name and country (or countries) whose materials each vendor can supply. To replicate the three previous regional versions, there are also lists by region that can be accessed by either the "point and click" world map on the home page, or by a pull-down menu. The original three regions, Eastern Europe-Soviet Union, Asia-Pacific, and Africa-Middle East, are now six regions: Eastern Europe, Central Eurasia, Asia, The Pacific, Africa, and Middle East."

"NISO's Shared E-Resource Understanding (SERU) Working Group has posted its first public draft best practices document on its Web site. This document, "The SERU Approach to E-Resource Subscriptions: Framework for Development and Use of SERU," presents a shared set of understandings to which publishers and libraries can point when negotiating the sale of electronic content. The framework offers publishers and libraries a solution to the often-burdensome process of bilateral negotiation of a formal license agreement by allowing the sale of e-resources without licenses if both parties feel their perception of risk has been adequately addressed by current law and developing norms of behavior."
