An ambitious work that covers not only concepts, issues, and biographies, but also short foreign policy histories of individual countries. Each article is signed.
Part of the series Clio Dictionaries in Political Science, this is organized by broadly themed chapters (e.g., "Ideology and Communication," "Arms Control and Arms Reduction," "International Law"), within each of which narrower concepts are explained and their significance discussed.
Although focussed on the United States, the signed entries provide universally relevant descriptions of concepts, biographical profiles, and historical events. The country entries, however, mainly treat each nation's relations with the United States.
Summary articles on trends and developments in individual countries. Statistical and directory information. The two-volume set includes comparable data for all countries of the globe, but contains less text than the regional volumes (Africa South of the Sahara, Middle East and North Africa, Far East and Australasia, South America, Central America and the Caribbean, The USA and Canada)Europa publishes and lacks some directory information. In terms of statistical data, however, it is virtually identical.
