The use utf8 pragma tells the Perl parser to allow UTF-8 in the program text in the current lexical scope (allow UTF-EBCDIC on EBCDIC based platforms). The no utf8 pragma tells Perl to switch back to treating the source text as literal bytes in the current lexical scope.

WERA (Web ARchive Access) is a freely available solution for searching and navigating archived web document collections. It works like the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine except it also allows for full-text search of the web archive. WERA is a php application based on pieces from -- and now, with Nutchwax replaces -- NwaToolset. The WERA component includes an arcretriever webapp for the fetching of records from directories of Internet Archive ARC files. The national libraries of Australia, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Iceland, Italy, Norway, Sweden, The British Library (UK), The Library of Congress (USA) and the Internet Archive (USA) acknowledged the importance of international collaboration for preserving Internet content for future generations and therefore decided to form a consortium called the International Internet Preservation Consortium.

The goals of the consortium are:

• To enable the collection of a rich body of Internet content from around the world to be preserved in a way that it can be archived, secured and accessed over time.
• To foster the development and use of common tools, techniques and standards that enable the creation of international archives.
• To encourage and support national libraries everywhere to address Internet archiving and preservation.

This study is an attempt to estimate how much new information is created each year. Newly created information is distributed in four storage media – print, film, magnetic, and optical – and seen or heard in four information flows – telephone, radio and TV, and the Internet. This study of information storage and flows analyzes the year 2002 in order to estimate the annual size of the stock of new information contained in storage media, and heard or seen each year in information flows. Where reliable data was available we have compared the 2002 findings to those of our 2000 study (which used 1999 data) in order to identify trends – recognizing that 1999-2002 were years of relatively low economic activity. The 2000 study is located on the Web at http://www.sims.berkeley.edu/how-much-info/. Note that this – the 2003 study – has revised certain of the 1999 estimates when we have found new and better data sources.

Clam AntiVirus is a GPL anti-virus toolkit for UNIX. The main purpose of this software is the integration with mail servers (attachment scanning). The package provides a flexible and scalable multi-threaded daemon, a command line scanner, and a tool for automatic updating via Internet. The programs are based on a shared library distributed with the Clam AntiVirus package, which you can use with your own software. Most importantly, the virus database is kept up to date .

This module is an interface to the gnome project's libxslt. This is an extremely good XSLT engine, highly compliant and also very fast. I have tests showing this to be more than twice as fast as Sablotron.

<oXygen/> XML Editor & XSLT Debugger

The simple and elegant look of the <oXygen/> combined with the complete coverage of the XML editing features have made it popular in both the corporate and academic worlds. It provides the necessary tools for the document creation and presentation.

The documents can be created and validated against any user defined schema. The smart context sensitive editing saves time and guarantees a minimum number of validation errors. Variations2 provides online access to selected recordings and scores from the Indiana University Cook Music Library for use by IU Bloomington students, faculty, and staff. The InterParty project is funded under the European Commission's Information Society Technologies Programme (IST), to design and specify a network to support interoperability of party identification (for both natural and corporate names) across different domains. InterParty builds on the work of the <indecs> project, one of whose deliverables was a specification for a Directory of Parties. InterParty is not proposed as a replacement for existing schemes for the identification of participants in the intellectual property domain (e.g. national library name authority files or systems oriented towards the needs of rights licensing) but as a means of effecting their interoperation.
